Coupe or martini glass
Tools
Cocktail shaker (or a jar with a tight lid), Jigger, Strainer
Garnish
3 coffee beans

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Pull a shot of espresso (or pour cold brew concentrate).
  2. Add vodka, coffee liqueur and espresso to a shaker with plenty of ice.
  3. Shake very hard for 15 seconds; that's what makes the foam.
  4. Strain into a chilled coupe and float three coffee beans on top.

Want it sweeter? Add 1/4 oz (7.5 ml) simple syrup. Heads up: this has real caffeine.

Make it a mocktail: Espresso Shakerato

Skip the vodka and liqueur. Shake 2 oz (60 ml) espresso with 1/2 oz (15 ml) simple syrup and ice until foamy. Use decaf if you plan to sleep.

Batch for two

For two: 3 oz (90 ml) vodka, 2 oz (60 ml) coffee liqueur, 2 oz (60 ml) espresso. Shake in two rounds for the best foam.

Pair it with an at-home date
